Disclaimer

Please read this before relying on calculator results for construction decisions.

Important: All calculator results on this Website are estimates for material planning purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional structural engineering advice. Always verify quantities with your materials supplier before ordering.

1. Estimates, Not Guarantees

The calculators on RoofSheetCalc produce estimated quantities based on the inputs you provide and standard IS specification data. These estimates are intended to help with material planning and purchase quantity approximations.

Actual quantities required at your specific site may differ due to:

  • Non-rectangular or complex roof geometries not fully captured in the inputs
  • Variations in sheet dimensions between suppliers and batches
  • Site-specific cutting and fitting requirements
  • Local construction practices that differ from standard IS assumptions
  • Measurement errors in the dimensions entered

2. Verify With Your Supplier

Before placing any material order, always verify:

  • Exact sheet dimensions (overall width, effective cover width, available lengths) with the brand representative or dealer
  • Sheet thickness tolerance ranges for the specific grade you are purchasing
  • Recommended overlap and fastener specifications for your application
  • Price per sheet and availability of your required quantity

Supplier stock dimensions may vary slightly from the IS standard values used in our calculators. Always add a safety margin of at least 5–10% to your calculated quantities.

3. Not a Substitute for Structural Engineering

This Website does not provide structural engineering advice. The Purlin Spacing Calculator and Roof Weight Calculator produce estimates based on typical IS values. These outputs should not be used as the sole basis for:

  • Structural design or specification of any building component
  • Purlin sizing, rafter design, or column design
  • Building permit or approval applications
  • Compliance certification for any structure

For any structure where safety is a consideration — particularly large industrial sheds, multi-span structures, or buildings in high wind or seismic zones — engage a qualified structural engineer to carry out a proper design.

4. IS Standard Data

The standard values used in our calculators (effective cover widths, standard overlaps, sheet densities) are taken from publicly available Indian Standards published by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). While we take care to use correct and current values, standards are periodically revised. RoofSheetCalc cannot guarantee that all values are up to date with the latest IS revisions.

Always check the current edition of the relevant IS standard if you require compliance-grade data.

5. No Liability

RoofSheetCalc, its owners, and contributors accept no responsibility or liability for:

  • Material over-orders or under-orders resulting from calculator estimates
  • Structural failures, defects, or accidents resulting from use of calculator outputs
  • Financial loss of any kind arising from use of this Website
  • Errors or outdated data in IS standard values used in calculations

Use of this Website is entirely at your own risk. See our Terms of Use for the full limitation of liability.
